Combination Change
At the Annual Meeting it was decided that since access to the facility is controlled by
individual computerized access cards, the combinations and the Members Only password
would remain the same for 2010.
DPRC Membership Cap Reached
The DPRC has a membership cap of 800 members. Persons interested in
joining need to contact the Membership Chairman and get their name placed on the Waiting List.
Each March the number of DPRC members will be reviewed (some members will not renew) and
persons on the list will be contacted in whatever number are needed to bring the membership back
to 800. For more information, see the How to Join web page.

Rimfire Benchrest 3 Gun Nationals Match
The DPRC will be hosting the Rimfire Benchrest Association 3 Gun Nationals match
on the weekend of October 29th to 31st on the General Purpose Range.

2 Gun Fund Raiser Match
There will be a 2 Gun Match on Saturday, November 13th to benefit the Junior Rifle Team.
This match will be shot using rifle and pistol (No shotgun) and does not count towards the year long 3 Gun points race.
The round count will be approximately 120 rounds of handgun and 80 rounds rifle.
This match will be scored one down "zero" or "A" zone or two hits anywhere on the target.
We will have mostly CQB rifle with max shoots out to 200 yards.

NC Hunter Education Courses
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission offers a free Hunter Education Course.
The Hunter Education Course includes information about hunter responsibility, wildlife conservation
and management, firearms, wildlife identification, survival and first aid, specialty
hunting and tree stand safety. The course is a minimum of 10 hours and is accepted in
every state and province in North America. All first-time license buyers must
successfully complete a hunter education course before they can hunt in North Carolina
or purchase a hunting license. There is no minimum age required to take the course.
Classes will be taught in 2010 on August 17-19; September 14-16;
November 16-18; December 14-16. Class Time is 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm.

DPRC Firearms Training
Durham Pistol & Rifle Club will be offering the following classes in 2010.
Pre-registration will be required for all classes to reserve students a
place in the class and date desired. You do not have to be a DPRC member
to take these classes.
NRA Basic Pistol Class - This class is for the novice shooter or a refresher
class for experienced shooters. Basic handgun (revolvers and semi-autos)
information, safety instruction, cleaning, and sighting technique is taught
in this class. This is a one day class with about 7 hours of classroom and
1-2 hours of supervised shooting. The student will fire a minimum of 50
rounds during this class.
Class dates: January 10th, February 13th, March 13th, June 19th,
September 18th, December 18th
Class fee: $50.00
NRA Inside the Home Protection Class - This class provides instruction on
how to protect yourself inside your home. This is a one day class with
a half day of classroom and the other half on the range practicing techniques
taught in the class. The NRA Basic Pistol Class is required before a student
can take this class. There will be approximately 100 rounds fired during
this course.
Class dates: April 17th, October 16th
Class fee: $75.00
NRA Outside the Home Protection Class - This class includes instruction on
how to protect yourself outside the home while carrying concealed firearms.
This is a two day class. The first day will have a half day of class
with the other half on the range. The second day will be the 'advanced'
portion of the class with a full day on the range. Students will be
drawing and firing from concealed holsters. No crossdraw or shoulder
holsters will be allowed. The NRA Basic Pistol Class or a CCH Permit
is required before a student can take this class. Approximately 300
rounds will be fired during this course.
Class dates: May 15th & 16th, November 20th & 21st
Class fee: $90.00
Concealed Carry Class - This is a two day class. The first day will be
the NRA Basic Pistol class emphasizing safety, basic knowledge of revolvers
and semi-auto pistols, cleaning, and basic shooting techniques. The
second day will cover the legal requirements of concealed carry, the
written exam, and the shooting qualification. The NRA Basic Pistol class
is part of this certification program meeting North Carolina state
requirements for this class. A total of 100 rounds will be fired over two
days at distances of 3, 5, and 7 yards.
Class dates: January 16th & 17th, February 13th & 14th, March 13th & 14th,
June 19th & 20th, September 18th & 19th, December 18th & 19th
Class fee: $75.00
NRA Basic Shotgun Class - This class is for the novice shooter or a refresher
class for experienced shooters. Basic shotgun (single, pump, and semi-autos)
information, safety instruction, cleaning, and sighting technique is taught
in this class. This is a two day class with about 10 hours of classroom
and 2 hours of supervised shooting. The student will fire a minimum of 25
rounds during this class.
Class dates: August 21st & 22nd
Class fee: $80.00
NRA Basic Rifle Class - This class is for the novice shooter or a refresher
class for experienced shooters. Basic rifle (bolt, lever action, pump, and
semi-autos) information, safety instruction, cleaning, and sighting
technique is taught in this class. This is a two day class with about 12
hours of classroom and 2 hours of supervised shooting. The student will
fire a minimum of 25 rounds during this class.
Class dates: July 17th & 18th
Class fee: $80.00

Yavapai Firearm Academy Courses (Louis Awerbuck)
Yavapai Firearms Academy is a Mobile Training Unit providing
training that encompasses Gun handling, Marksmanship and Tactics - the three
elements of surviving a deadly force confrontation. This year will offer the
Tactical Rifle / Carbine and the Handgun Refresher classes.
