Youth Air Rifle Program

The Durham Pistol and Rifle Club offers a training and competition program designed to teach air rifle marksmanship to those from age 8 to 17. In addition to the proper handling of a firearm, the program also teaches safety, discipline, concentration and respect. During warm weather, participants may receive instruction in skeet and .22 rimfire shooting.

The rifles used are Daisy M888 air rifles which are purchased from the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

Classes are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday night of each month (Feb - Nov)starting at 7:00 p.m. Each class has a 15 to 30 minute training class followed by a 1.5 hour shooting session. The team has constant adult supervision consisting of experienced instructors for the team coach and assistant coach and are usually assisted by several parents.

The team is currently planning to attend two formal matches each year.

For more information on the program, contact David McFarling at (919) 929-9585.
